McMurray, PA - On July 11, James A. Donatelli of McMurray, was delivered to God in heaven. He was 90 years old. James was born and raised in the North Side of Pittsburgh and resided in the South Hills for the last 60 years. James served in the Air Force as Staff Sargent during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he built his own company, Granite Fabricating. He pioneered the industry, and he was the first to fabricate and install granite kitchen countertops in Pittsburgh. His artistry in stone included numerous veterans memorials, church monuments and other granite works that can be seen throughout the tristate area.
Larger than any personal accomplishments are his deep devotion and service to his Catholic faith and the love and generosity to his family and friends.
Our beloved James was preceded in death by his first wife of 30 years and the mother of his children, Barbara L. Donatelli; and their daughter, Gina (Angelich).
He is survived by his second wife, JoAnn; and his daughters, Celeste (Ed) Wilhelm, Mary Wolfe, Kirsten (Shawn); his grandchildren, Anastasia, Sophia, Luke, Gracianna, Chloe, Morris and Gretchen.
James was also preceded in death by his two sisters, Mary Margaret (Francis) Siciliano and Eugenia Mulle; and four brothers, Frederick (Delores), Thomas (Janice) and Rev. Philip.
Family will welcome friends on Tuesday, July 15, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at SCHELLHAAS & SONS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 1600 Stone Mansion Drive, Sewickley, PA 15143 (Franklin Park/Wexford).
