JAMES HERCHENROETHER Obituary

HERCHENROETHER

JAMES

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of James Dale Herchenroether (June 2, 1941 – July 5, 2026). Known to many as "Uncle Jim," he has gone to be with the love of his life, Carol W. Herchenroether "Aunt Carol", whom he missed dearly since her passing in February 2026. After meeting at LaBelle Salon in his hometown of West View, PA, they shared 57 years of marriage.

The oldest son of the late James and Fern Herchenroether; Jim was also preceded in death by his brother, Keith Herchenroether. He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Lynne Herchenroether, Mary Lou Sapp, and Dee Wokutch; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a vast circle of friends who considered him family.

A Vietnam War veteran, Jim served our country with honor in the United States Air Force. Professionally, he spent 25 years as a furniture upholsterer for Foster's Furniture. His talent for his craft was evident in the comfort and beauty of the home he shared with Carol. Together, they enjoyed traveling the country and were known for their generosity, always ready to help anyone in need.

After a very active social life, Jim and Carol settled in Conneaut Lake, PA. They were dedicated members of the Conneaut Lake Historical Society, where Jim took great pride in maintaining the beautiful flower gardens each year. In his final years, he was a devoted caregiver to Carol.

In accordance with their wishes, there will be no formal service. James and Carol will be joined for burial at Union Dale Cemetery in Pittsburgh (Brighton Heights), where a small prayer will be offered at the gravesite. A date for this gathering is not yet available.

In lieu of flowers, to honor Jim and Carol, donations to the Conneaut Lake Historical Society would be greatly appreciated: Conneaut Lake Historical Society, 150 North 3rd Street, Conneaut Lake, PA 16316.
