JAMES "JAY"
Of Brookline, age 85, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. He is survived by his wife of 64 years and high school sweetheart, Janet Norton Malfatti; his children, Stephen (Carol) Malfatti, Kimberly Cashman, Jennifer (John) Hamilton, and Jimmy Malfatti; his grandchildren, Joshua Cashman, Ciara Cancelliere, Gina Malfatti, Rachael Cashman, Stephanie Malfatti, Dr. Allie Brown, and Grant Hamilton; his great-grandchildren, Rilynn Bassier, Amelia Burse, Amoni Burse, and Rory Cashman; his sister, Diann (Bob) Marsili; his niece, Lisa Marsili; and his nephews, Robby and Paul Marsili.
Jay was a retired lieutenant firefighter for the City of Pittsburgh Fire Department, an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, a skilled artist and craftsman, a hardware store owner, and a beloved man who never failed to make someone laugh.
Friends and family will be received at BEINHAUERS, 2630 West Liberty Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15216, on Monday, June 22, 2026, from 12 PM to 2 PM, with a funeral service at 2 PM. Burial will take place on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at The National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Road, Bridgeville, PA 15017, at 2:30 PM. PLEASE MEET AT THE FUNERAL HOME.
