JAMES L. "JIM"

Age 81, of Banksville, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, April 9, 2026.

Son of the late Robert and Dolores H. (Tompkins) Cawley. Beloved husband of 57 years to Donna R. (Talarico) Cawley. Loving father of Monica (Jason) Baranowski, Renee Cawley, Nicole Cawley, and Lisa (Andy) Kronz. Cherished Pappy of Brady, Troy, and AJ. Beloved brother of Carol and Patricia Cawley and the late Robert and Judith Cawley. Jimmy will be sadly missed by numerous friends and extended family.

At 14 years old, Jim started his career as an usher in the movie and theatre industry. A dedicated and hard-working man, Jim spent over 50 years in the industry, working at numerous theatres in the Pittsburgh area. Through hard work, determination, and his love for the industry, Jim earned his way to become a district manager for Showcase Cinema.

In addition to his hard work and passion for the movie and theatre industry, Jim enjoyed traveling and vacationing with his loved ones, trying new restaurants, having a good meal surrounded by family, going to the casino, and, above all, Jim loved nothing more than spending quality time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and friends. Jim's greatest joy in life was his family. Nothing meant more in life to Jim than the quality time he spent with his loved ones. Jim especially cherished sitting around with his wife, daughters, and grandkids, sharing stories, laughter, jokes, and debates; watching TV and movies; playing games; and celebrating birthdays and holidays. He was a devoted and selfless husband, father, pappy, brother, and friend, who would do anything for those he loved. Jim did not need extravagant plans or the material things in life in order to be happy. He was a simple man who found true fulfillment in life's finer moments. Family was everything to him. Jim's love for them and their love for him were the foundation of his life. His memory and beautiful soul will forever live in the hearts of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
