JAMES ROLAND

James Roland Behr, a devoted husband, loving father, successful entrepreneur, faithful community servant, and proud grandfather, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 1, 2025, after a long and fulfilling life. He was 80 years old.

Born on July 6, 1945, Jim was the cherished son of the late Roland and Alice Behr. He was raised with strong family values and a deep commitment to faith and service.

Career and Service

Jim lived a life filled with meaningful work and cherished leisure. He was the proud founder of Energy Savers Inc., a company he successfully operated for over three decades, alongside his children, Mike and Natalie.

He was a man defined by service, becoming the District Governor of The Greater Pittsburgh Area Rotary 7300 (1997-1999) and serving as President and member of the McCandless Rotary Club, where he championed numerous service projects. One of his proudest achievements was traveling to Ethiopia to administer Polio immunizations, embodying Rotary's commitment to global health. In his spiritual life, Jim was a man of deep faith, serving as a long-time member and devoted usher at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aleppo.

Travel and Leisure

Jim also enjoyed traveling extensively with his wife, Sandy, visiting countless places around the world. Though he saw so many sights, his favorite destination remained Las Vegas, especially Caesar's Palace, where he enjoyed trying his luck at the slot machines.

Family Legacy

A longtime resident of Sewickley, Pennsylvania, Jim's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of many years, Sandy Behr. Together, they created a beautiful legacy that includes their three devoted children: Mike Behr (Jennifer) of McDonald, PA; Sherry Silcox (Tim) of Littleton, NC; and Natalie Kurn (Tim) of Valencia, PA.

Jim's memory will live on through his ten adored grandchildren: Sarah Hall (Dustin), Jordan Fleming (Tyler), Carter Silcox, Zachary Abel (Cara), Mike Behr, Vincent Abel, Elizabeth Barry (Briar), Micaela Connelly (Michael), Jenae Hixson (Troy), and Dominic Kurn (Alexis). He was also blessed with three sweet great-grandchildren: Quinn, Marco, and Mia.

He is also survived by his beloved sisters: Mary Jane DelMastro, Ruth Brown (preceded in death by her husband George), Carol Kutzko, Janet Stone (preceded in death by her husband Sheldon), and Linda Mengon (Jim). Jim will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, including Jesse, Kristyn, Breanna, Trevor, Jane, Melissa, and Robert.

Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He could be stubborn and strong-willed, but his character, quiet generosity, adventurous spirit, and unwavering love for his family will be cherished forever.
