Of Forest Hills, age 83, died peacefully on Friday, August 7, 2026.

Born on July 14, 1943, Jim was the son of the late James and Anna Mae (Meyers) King.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Judith (Judy Thompson) King; his sister, Susan (George) Dollish of Forest Hills; and his nieces, Jamie (Rick) Dunlap of Harrisburg and Amanda (Chris) Kotts of Monroeville; his great-nephews, Ethan Phipps, Oliver and Maxwell Kotts; and his great-niece, Zoey Dunlap.

Jim was a 1961 graduate of McKeesport High School and, in 1965, received his Bachelor's Degree from Allegheny College, where he met his beloved, Judy. He later continued his education at Duquesne University, where he received his MBA.

Jim began his career as a caseworker with the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare and, through years of professionalism and dedication, rose to the position of Director of Staff Development for Allegheny County. His career was a true reflection of his desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Outside of work, Jim lived a life rich in culture and intellectual curiosity. He enjoyed reading, listening to classical music, and painting with acrylics. He found great pleasure in the theatre and was a devoted season ticket holder of the Pittsburgh Symphony for many years. He also held season tickets for the Pittsburgh Public Theater for several years, where he delighted in the artistry of live performance. His love of theatre extended beyond Pittsburgh, and he found joy and adventure in theatre trips to Niagara-On-the-Lake, Toronto, New York City, and London.

Jim also combined his appreciation for art and beauty with a sense of civic responsibility. He served as a member of the Forest Hills Tree and Shrub Committee, where he contributed his time and interest to the betterment of his community.

There will not be a visitation or service. A Memorial Gathering will be held at a later date.
