JANET ANN

Janet Ann Korenich, age 78, of Allison Park, PA, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025. Loving sister of Susan (Charles) Hoerner, Carole (the late Barry) Popchock, Thomas R. (Mary Lynn) and Ronald.

Loving aunt to Adam (Angela), Jill, Elaine (Kelly), Matt (Courtney), Sara (Chris), Cathi (Robert), Evan and Tim (Chelsea). Beloved great-aunt to Zachary, Amelia, Mackenzie, Ryan, Owen, Nora and Sophie. She is also survived by many cousins.

Jan was preceded in death by her father, Thomas J. Korenich and mother, Ann Paljug Korenich.

Janet was a 1968 graduate of Clarion State College where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. She also earned a Masters in Education from The University of Pittsburgh.

After graduating from Clarion, Jan embarked on her teaching career with the North Hills School District. During her 39 year career she taught at Hamilton-Martin, Highcliff and was principal at Seville Elementary.

After her retirement, Jan worked for ASSET, promoting science, technology and mathematics throughout the state.

Through her college years and teaching career Jan developed many strong and endearing friendships that have lasted a lifetime. Janet was a strong supporter of the Arts. The Pittsburgh Symphony, the Pops Concerts, Civic Light Opera and the Broadway Series always found Jan in attendance with family and friends. Jan was also an enthusiastic supporter of Pitt football over the years, attending games with family and friends.

Jan thoroughly enjoyed the holidays, especially Christmas and Thanksgiving. Jan was "Santa Claus" to many, not only at Christmas but throughout the year.

Jan will be sorely missed by family and friends. May she rest in peace.

The family would like to thank Dr. Brian T. McLaughlin of UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, The Heyl Family Practice, and the entire staff at Concordia Rebecca Residence for the love and care shown to Jan over the years.

Homeless Children's Education Fund or North Hills School District Backpack Initiative reflecting Jan's lifelong commitment to education and community service.

Family and friends are welcome on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME, 806 Perry Hwy., North Hills. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, St. Teresa of Avila Church.
