JEANNE ELIZABETH KELLEY

Jeanne Elizabeth Kelley Block passed away peacefully on January 21, at her home in Seaford, DE. Jeanne was born on December 8, 1952, in Darby, PA, and grew up in Broomall, PA. She was the oldest of five children and had two sisters and two brothers. She lived a life guided by deep faith, fairness, and an unwavering commitment to justice. Through many struggles, she held firmly to her beliefs and convictions, never faltering in her dedication to doing what she felt was right. She was also a dedicated Eagles and Phillies fan. Throughout her life, Jeanne pursued meaningful work in service to others. After graduating from Eastern College, she worked at a girls' school as a house mother, beginning a lifelong pattern of helping those in need. She went on to spend many years at Drexel University and later worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, from which she retired. Since moving to Seaford, she has worked as a volunteer supporting the local Democrat Committee in the 39th district. No matter her role, Jeanne was always a helper — someone who stood up for others and quietly made a difference. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Kurt D. Block; and her children, Christopher and Emily. In keeping with Jeanne's wishes, no formal service will be held. She asked instead that friends and family honor her memory through acts of service to others. Remembrances may be made to the American Friends Service Committee or the Friends Committee on National Legislation. In addition, Kurt requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
