MULERT
JEANNE VAUX
Age 96, a lifelong resident of Mt. Lebanon, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026, at the Providence Point Skilled Nursing Unit, where she had been living for the past year and a half.
Jeanne was known for her impeccable style in both fashion and interior decorating. It will surprise no one who knew her that she was voted Best Dressed of Mt. Lebanon's class of 1947. She attended Marietta College, where she studied home economics. In 1972, she completed a design course from the Harrington Institute of Design in Pittsburgh. That led to her career as an interior decorator, which she pursued for the next 40 years.
Jeanne met the love of her life, Howard M. "Scotti" Mulert, during their senior year at Mt. Lebanon High School, and they were married for 69 years until his passing in 2020. They shared a love of dancing. In the 1960s, they helped to form a club, The Lamplighters, that held formal dances at various country clubs in the South Hills. Shortly before she died, Jeanne said, "I hope I can dance with Scotti one more time." They socialized and volunteered at various organizations in Pittsburgh, such as the Manchester Craftsman's Guild, the Homeless Children's Education Fund, Reading is Fundamental, and Reading Pittsburgh.
Jeanne was very active. She was a member of the Girls Athletic Association in high school, played tennis and platform tennis in the 1960s and 1970s, and walked with friends and swam at the JCC into her early 90s.
Above all, her greatest passion was being "Giggi" or "Grandma" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, exploring Pittsburgh and Chicago together, and attending their performances, sports competitions, graduations, and weddings.
Jeanne is survived by a daughter, Sandy Mulert Doyle (Bob) of Helena, MT; a son, Jeffrey S. Mulert (Tracey) of Aspinwall; grandchildren, Patrick Doyle (Stephanie) of Helena, MT, Kait Doyle of Helena, MT, Megan Mulert (Richard Zuckerman) of Pittsburgh, and Maddy Mulert Stewart (Scott) of Pittsburgh; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a niece, Kathy Mulert Peterson (Dave) of Milton, DE; a nephew, Carl Mulert (John Tucker) of NYC and Craryville, NY; and other grand- and great-grandnieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Providence Point third-floor skilled nursing staff (especially Sondra) for the loving care Jeanne received in her time there. Eternal thanks to her companions DeeAnn Slater and Bridget Akyea for their extraordinary compassion and love.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM, at Providence Point, 500 Providence Point Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15243.
