Joan Marcia Palajsa, age 86, of Shaler Twp., passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026. God and His Angels took Joan home to Him. Joan was the daughter of the late Marie and Steve Palajsa. Joan was a kind, gentle lady who valued others and especially her friends who she chose to be her family. She is survived by her friends the Benty family-John, Mary Ellen, Laura (Michael) Francis and Roman Benty; Elizabeth "Liz" Bistolas; Chuck and Joyce Perry and Mary Sokol. She will be missed by all. Joan was a graduate of Shaler High School and Business School. She enjoyed a rewarding career at Allegheny General Hospital for over 60 years. She worked in physician office practices, where she was known to be very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful to all the patients, families and staff she encountered daily. Joan was a lifelong devoted member of All Saints Church-Etna, of St. Matthew Parish. Joan was an exceptional baker, cook and gardener. She loved animals, especially cats, dogs, birds and all animals that visited her yard. Friends will be received Friday, June 19, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the BOCK FUNERAL HOME, LTD., 1500 Mount Royal Blvd., Glenshaw, PA 15116. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at All Saints Church, St. Matthew Parish, Etna, 19 Wilson Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15223 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Dr. James R. Gretz, officiating. In lieu of flowers, Joan requested donations in her name be made to Animal Friends, 562 Camp Horne Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
