Age 74, of Pittsburgh, passed away, with his family by his side, on Friday, January 30, 2026. Beloved husband of Janice (Sadowski) Vanucci. Dear father of Noel (Jim) Santini. Loving grandfather of Nathan, Jameson and Neve Santini. Son of June and the late Gregory Vanucci. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Joel was a pioneer in education and served in many schools in the area, retiring from Keystone Oaks School District. He was the Founder of Project Succeed Program, where he helped over 4,000 struggling students obtain a high school diploma. Joel was the recipient of the KDKA Hometown Hero Award in 2015. During his time at Carlynton High School as an assistant basketball coach, they won the 1992 State Championship. Joel loved all sports, but his greatest love was spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. Family and friends are welcome, on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, and on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M., WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Rd., Scott Twp., PA 15220, (412-563-2800). Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 10 A.M., in St. Catherine of Sienna Church, St. Teresa of Kolkata Parish. Interment in Calvary Cemetery.
