JOHN C.

Age 86, of Glenshaw, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family. John was born June 19, 1939, in Pittsburgh to John C Buckley, Sr. and Margaret Dolores Ward; and sister, Bernadette. John grew up in the Northside, was a proud graduate of North Catholic High School and had a fulfilling career of over 40 years in maintenance and construction at Heinz.

John met his loving wife, Carolyn, in grade school. They just recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. Together they share four children, Michele (Tom) Ford, Marilyn (late Raymond) Sieber, Marlene Boyd (d); and his son and best friend, John (Jen) Buckley.

John and Carolyn's four children gave them 15 grandchildren. Pap Buck was a no-nonsense grandfather, who gave respect when it was earned. His display of affection towards his grandchildren would come to realization as they became older. He worked tirelessly to make sure Gram could give them all magical Christmas, wonderful Thanksgiving feasts and their childhood oasis, their family camp at Mercer. If you would ask each grandchild individually, some of their happiest memories occurred there.

Their 15 grandchildren gave them 22 great-grandchildren. Paps heart would soften completely when the newest generation would visit. He always had a stash of treats, especially jelly beans. He was surrounded by their pictures and art work and loved to see their videos on his iPad.

John had miscellaneous interests, including helping family and friends with home improvements, keeping in contact with his graduating class, spending time with his buddy, Huntz, and up until recently, working countless hours side by side with his son and grandsons, maintaining their farm. To some it may sound mundane, but his happiest moments came over the past few years in the comfort of the home he built, reading, talking, watching tv, enjoying home cooked meals and visiting with family with his cherished, Carolyn.

John's presence and wit will be sorely missed by those he leaves behind, and gladly welcomed to eternal rest by his parents, sister, daughter, son-in- law, grandsons, extended family and friends who have gone before him.

Visitation, Sunday, October 26, from 2-7:30 P.M., at NEELY FUNERAL HOME, 2208 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw.

Funeral Mass on Monday, October 27, at 12 noon, at St. Matthew Parish, St. Bonaventure Church, everyone please meet at church.
