JOHN D. "JACK" SOLANIK Obituary

Churchill, PA - Of Churchill, formerly of Penn Hills, age 84, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 4, 2026. Jack was born to John and Evelyn (Daniels) Solanik and raised in Penn Hills. He attended Penn Hills High School, where he was a member of the golf team. He graduated from Bowling Green State University and married his high school sweetheart, Karen Timmis. Through the years he owned a commercial janitorial and window cleaning company and also owned Adventure Charters on Lake Erie. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and spending time at Hilton Head. Jack was a longtime member of Edgewood Country Club, where he was a club champion and held the amateur course record of 65 since 1962. In his later years he enjoyed spending time with family, watching golf, and hearing about his girls and grandkids and all of their activities and accomplishments.

Jack was the beloved husband of Karen Solanik for 61 years. Loving father of Kim Veon (Scott) of Cranberry Twp. and Jennifer Gates (Tim) of Cranberry Twp. Proud grandfather of Joshua, Jessica, Alexa, and Samantha. Preceded in death by his sister, Judith Keister.

Friends will be received at WOLFE MEMORIAL, LLC., Forest Hills Chapel, 3600 Greensburg Pike, Pittsburgh, PA 15221, on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Private burial in Church Hill Cemetery.
