Known to all as "Jack," age 88, of Louisville, Kentucky, entered the eternal Kingdom of Heaven Sunday, June 21, 2026. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on April 23, 1938.

The most important thing to Jack was his family. Jack was a kind, loving gentleman to everyone he knew. He was a retired Plant Manager for Rockwell International and Derby Industries. Many of those who worked with Jack said he was the best boss they ever had. Jack was a member of The Ascension Catholic Church in Louisville, Kentucky.

Although he made his home in Kentucky, Pittsburgh always held a special place in his heart. He remained a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan throughout his life and never lost his love for the city where he was born and raised.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John J. O'Rourke and Margaretta O'Rourke; his sisters, Audrey Pritchard and Janice Chiusano; his son, Patrick O'Rourke; and his son-in-law, Christopher Florence.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Shirlene; son, Michael O'Rourke; daughters, Colleen Florence and Maureen Shoemaker (Scott); daughter-in-law, Beverly O'Rourke; grandchildren, Katye Bielata, Rebecca O'Rourke, Riley O'Rourke, Erin O'Rourke, John O'Rourke, Christeen Florence, Ryan Shoemaker, and Julia Shoemaker; three great-grandchildren, Ethan, Henry, and Gabby; and a host of family and friends.

In addition to his immediate family, Jack is survived by many nieces and nephews, to whom he was simply "Uncle Jack" — a title that meant as much to him as it did to those who loved him.

A Mass of Celebration will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Church of the Ascension, 4600 Lynnbrook Drive, Louisville, Kentucky 40220. A Memorial Mass will be held in Pittsburgh, at a later date.
