Pittsburgh - Age 90, of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025. John was born in Pittsburgh on February 24, 1935, in the elevator at St. Joseph Hospital on the Southside. He was the son of the late John and Elizabeth Donovan; and brother to the late Edward (Audrey) Donovan. John was married to the late Ruth Ann (Seemiller) Donovan for 66 years.
John graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1952 and started work at U.S. Steel, before serving for two years in the U.S. Army. He was employed for over 31 years by U.S. Steel, worked his way from the mill to corporate accounting, while earning his degree from Duquesne University. John's greatest passion was his family. He also enjoyed golfing, dancing, watching football and traveling. He was an excellent card player and known as the "Card Shark" at his retirement community.
John was a beloved husband; wonderful father to Elizabeth "Betty Mae" (Kevin) Tatman, Elaine (Keith) Golebie, Kathleen (Doug) Cromer, John (Karen) Donovan, Jr. and the late Dale (Marija Prica) Donovan; loving grandfather to Matthew (Christina Mansi) Tatman, Justin (Lauren) Tatman, Emma Golebie, Leah (Jeremy) Taylor, Jessica Cromer, Katherine (Tony) Pici, Joshua Golebie, Brad Cromer, Hunter Donovan and Caelan Donovan; cherished great-grandfather to Eden Carriero, Cairo Campbell, Anthony Pici, Jr., Bre Tatman, Brooks Pici and Jamie Tatman.
