JOHN J. "JACK"

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John J. "Jack" Keane, 92, on August 15, 2026.

Jack was the beloved husband of Madeline (Gimera) Keane for 63 years.

He was the loving father of Kimberly (Ronald) Kachman of North Huntingdon, PA, Susan (John) Shaw of Orlando, FL, and Erin (Umberto) Liberati of Columbus, OH.

Jack was the proud grandfather of Katelyn Kachman, Lauren (Frankie) Plowman, Ronnie Kachman, Jenna Shaw, Nicholas Liberati, and Rebecca Shaw.

He is survived by his sister, Theresa Neal (the late Lloyd Neal); as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

Jack was the son of the late Coleman and Margaret (Nee) Keane. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Mayme (Val) Koval, Nancy (Dom) Tarantini, Barbara (Don) Wolford, and Coleman (Dona) Keane.

Born in Braddock, PA, Jack graduated from East Pittsburgh High School in 1951 and proudly served in the United States Navy. Following his discharge, he continued his career with A&P stores before co-founding Toona Auto Parts, also known as Wholesale Automotive Supply, in Irwin, PA, with his brother-in-law, Dom Tarantini. After 50 years in business, Jack retired. Today, the business continues to operate under the leadership of his nephew, Mark Tarantini.

Known to many simply as "Jack," he was an avid bowler who proudly achieved a perfect 300 game. He also founded the Sunday Night Dance at the VFW in East Pittsburgh with the memorable slogan, "Come to my dance and find romance." In addition, he organized and operated teen dances at the Boosters Club in East Pittsburgh.

One of his greatest joys was the annual family trip to Hilton Head Island, where he treasured time on the beach with his wife, children, their spouses, and his grandchildren. He also found happiness at home, relaxing in his beautiful yard he spent years perfecting, often with his favorite music playing nearby.

Friends are welcome on Friday, August 21, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at PATRICK T. LANIGAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC., 700 Linden Ave. at Cable, East Pittsburgh, PA 15112, 412-824-8800.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph the Worker Parish (formerly St. Maurice Church) in Forest Hills on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.

Jack will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Braddock Catholic Cemetery.
