JOHN
Age 87, born on the North Side of Pittsburgh on June 29, 1938, beloved son to the late John and Mary Kranys Terrick. Loving husband of 64 years to Peggy Matthis Terrick. Loving father to Lindley (Tim) Short and the late John "Jay" Terrick. Proud grandfather to Dalton J. (Emily) Short and Jarrett M. Short. Great-grandfather to Ari and Zoe Short. Brother to Daniel Terrick and the late Joseph Terrick, David Terrick and Timothy Terrick. Uncle to Robin Sweeney and Dawn Terrick. Also survived by his faithful companion Otis.
John was a US. Navy Reserve Veteran who actively served from 1957 – 1959 as a Quartermaster, Petty Officer PO3. He was very active in BAA as a softball coach and Treasurer. John was a devout Christian and had a deep commitment to his faith. He was extremely active with Stewart Avenue Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served in many roles on council and taught confirmation classes and Bible school. He also drove for Meals on Wheels after retirement and served as their treasurer.
John and Peggy were always a team. He loved her and fought hard through many health issues to be by her side. John loved to hike the trails of Cook Forest and make trips to Amish country in Ohio with his beloved Peggy. He enjoyed home improvement, landscaping, and making stained glass windows.
Friends will be received on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 1-3 pm. with a private service following at the CIESLAK & TATKO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 2935 Brownsville Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15227.
Inurnment will be held at Jefferson Memorial Park.
