JOSEPH COMPORT Obituary
COMPORT
JOSEPH
Joseph Comport was a man who knew how to bring people together — whether through a sharp sense of humor, the thrill of a big win, or a well-poured glass of wine. Joseph passed away peacefully, on July 23, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, warmth, and unforgettable memories.
A proud veteran, Joseph served in the U.S. Army while stationed in Germany. During his time in the service, he put his culinary talents to good use as a cook — a skill that fed his lifelong love of good food and great company — and took particular pride (and joy) in getting behind the wheel of the iconic "deuce and a half" truck.
Upon returning to civilian life, Joseph remained as energetic as ever. A passionate fan of his local sports teams, he rarely missed a game, cheering (and occasionally refereeing from the couch) with unmatched enthusiasm. Beyond the sports arena, he was a beloved staple at the local senior center, where he called Bingo with a quick wit and charm that kept everyone on the edge of their seats waiting for their winning numbers. ("Especially O-76").
Joseph truly appreciated the simple pleasures in life—none more so than sharing a nice glass of "Dago Red" or a good card game with family and friends. His humor was infectious, his heart was generous, and his presence could light up any room.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Grace "Sandy" Comport; and his brothers, Sam and Anthony ("Uncle Dick"). Joseph is survived by his children, Joseph, Mark, Cheryl Bavely (and husband, Sam), Greg Eberhart (and wife, Christy) and George Eberhart; his grandchildren, Aaron, Joshua, Dara, Eddie, Greg, Angela, Holly, Crystal, Noelle, and Kayla; and his sisters and brother, Theresa, Darlene Mae, Lois and John. He also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a community of friends who will deeply miss his quick punchlines and warm smile.
Family and friends will be received on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 2:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., at the LAWRENCE T. MILLER FUNERAL HOME INC., 460 Lincoln Ave., Bellevue, PA 15202. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Regina Coeli Parish, Church of the Assumption, 45 N. Sprague Ave., Bellevue, PA 15202. Burial to follow at Christ Our Redeemer (North Side Catholic) Cemetery, 204 Cemetery Ln., Pittsburgh, PA 15237. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Prime-Time Senior Center (Lutheran Senior Life), 440 Lincoln Ave., Bellevue, PA 15202.
