JOSEPH WILLIAM

Age 71, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, passed away on April 18, 2026, at United Zion Retirement Community. Joe was born on September 14, 1954, in Hermitage, Pennsylvania, the son of Joseph William Mitch, Sr. and Carmela Rose D'Urso Mitch. He moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he met and married Janet Songdahl Mitch, on May 22, 1982.

Joe was a graduate of PTI Penn Technical Institute with an associates in Computer Science. Joe owned his own pest control company, Advantage Pest Control, and later worked in sales for Target Specialty Products, until he retired in October of 2021.

Joe loved football and was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He coached Junior Rifle at Coraopolis Sportsmen's Association, was a talented woodworker, and loved spending time with his family. Those who know him will remember his excessive efforts with Christmas lights to try and bring a smile to everyone's faces during the holiday season.

He was also an avid camper with his family, spending many holiday weekends at Racoon Creek State Park near Pittsburgh. Finally, he was also fond of fine tequila and listening to music.

Remaining to cherish Joe's memory are his wife, Janet Songdahl Mitch; sons, Derek R. Mitch and his wife, Sarah and Ryan H. Mitch and his wife, Helen; grandchildren, AnnMarie Mitch, April Mitch and Eliana Mitch; brother, David W. Mitch; and sister, Louise Ann Hall and her husband, Nicholas.

Preceding Joe in death are his parents, Joseph William Mitch Sr. and Carmela Rose D'Urso Mitch.

A memorial service will be held at 4 P.M., on Monday, May 11, 2026, at CHARLES F. SNYDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA 17543. The family will receive guests from 2-4 PM.
