JULIA CHRISTINE CALDWELL Obituary
CALDWELL
JULIA CHRISTINE
Julie was best known for her prolific work and accomplishments as an anesthesiologist, practicing in several states, before settling in Evansville, Indiana. Born on March 1, 1978, in Pittsburgh, PA, then passed away in Pittsburgh, PA, on January 10, 2026, at age 47.
She was born at Magee Hospital to Christopher Sterling Caldwell and Nancy Saro Caldwell. They loved and nurtured Julie's musical talents, encouraging voice and flute lessons from a young age. Julie graduated from Peters Township High School before completing her undergraduate studies at Penn State University, where she was a Schreyer's Honors Scholar, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa. She then completed her medical degree at the University of Cincinnati and then completed internship in internal medicine at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital of Ann Arbor and then Anesthesia residency at the University of Michigan. After completing residency, she was trained at MD Anderson Cancer Center, completing a pain fellowship there. She also completed a Masters Degree in Healthcare Administration from Penn State and a Masters Degree in History from Oxford. She practiced medicine across the country, most recently at the Deaconess Memorial Medical Center in Jasper, Indiana, where she specialized in pain management and felt at home the first time she walked through the door.
Julie met the love of her life, Jonathan Lile, in Glasgow, Kentucky. They were married on December 31, 2019, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was the proud mom of two furbabies, Maurice and Theodore, who will dearly miss her, and the proud aunt of Isabella, who loved sharing her first trip to the Museum with aunty so Julie could introduce her to the dinos.
She loved opera, reading, gourmet cooking, history, cats, and painting. She was known for having lots of books, not too many, as no one can ever have too many books, and being able to talk on any type of medical or history topic. She was a true scholar and her passion for her profession shone in every patient's life she touched.
Julie will forever be our princess and we couldn't have asked for a better daughter, sister, wife, and aunt. Taken too soon, she is survived by her husband, Jonathan Lile; her parents, Christopher and Nancy Caldwell; her sister, Cyndi Caldwell; her brother-in-law, Richard Muma; her niece, Isabella Muma; her stepchildren, Zackary and Mckenzie Lile; and step-grandchildren, Hudson Mitchell and Nora Caroline Mitchell. As she would say, it's Doctor Caldwell.
A chapel service will be held on Thursday, at 11:00 A.M., at Queen of Heaven cemetery.
