McGANN
KATHLEEN
Born September 8, 1937, she was called home to the Lord on December 20, 2025, entering into eternal life sustained by her deep and abiding faith.
Kathleen was born to Katherine "Kitty" Mechas and Louis Mechas, who raised her with strong values rooted in faith, family, and perseverance. These early foundations shaped the woman she became: quietly strong, deeply faithful, and devoted to those she loved.
Kathleen was a graduate of Seton Hill College. Earlier in her career, she was employed by Trans World Airlines (TWA) as a reservationist. She was later a restaurateur, working at The Interlude on Court Place in downtown Pittsburgh and subsequently was the co-owner of the Win, Place, Show Restaurant on Baum Boulevard. She later dedicated over 30 years of her professional life as a property manager at Greenbrier Village on Greentree Road, where she was known for her reliability, kindness, and commitment.
A devoted Catholic, Kathleen was a longtime and faithful member of Saints Simon and Jude Church, now known as St. Raphael the Archangel Parish. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life and a source of comfort and strength throughout every season.
She was blessed with many meaningful friendships, which she cherished throughout her life.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Michelle; her parents, Katherine "Kitty" and Louis Mechas; her brothers, Harry Pete and John "Jack" (the surviving, Cathleen Mecha); and her fiancé, William "Billy" Sarkis.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Nicole McGann (spouse Justin Jankovitz) and Michael Fenton; her great-grandchildren, Oliver, Evelyn, and Sofia; and her brother, Patrick Mechas (Kimberly), and their children, Bryan (Dr. Mark Baker) and Kevin (Brittany Hart), whom she cherished deeply.
Friends and family are welcome on Friday, December 26, 2025, from 1 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM, at WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, 1650 Greentree Road, Scott Township, 412-563-2800.
A Mass of Catholic Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 10 AM, at Sts. Simon and Jude Church, St. Raphael the Archangel Parish, 1607 Greentree Road. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
