KAY W. WOMSLEY
KAY W. WOMSLEY Obituary
WOMSLEY
KAY W.
Kay was born in 1940 to Dr. Robert and Jean Wallace; and much to the
"delight" of her brother Robert "Bob" Wallace, Jr. (Julie). After graduating from Perry High School, Kay went to Dickenson College, where she met and later married, local boy, J. Howard Womsley. In their McCandless home, they raised three beautiful daughters, Linda Womsley, Sharon Short (Alfred- AKA Sonny Boy), and Carol Womsley. Kay adored her grandchildren Gabrielle Short and George Short. She was Aunt Kay to Jed (Amy), Drew, Jean and many great-nieces and nephews.
Kay stopped teaching to raise a family but never stopped educating and mentoring others. She set an example for her children and grandchildren, as they all work in teaching and/or mentoring fields. Kay was a long-time member of the McCandless Republican Committee and used grassroots methods to find and help vet the most qualified candidates for local and state offices. She loved to debate, or as she would say, exchange ideas and opinions. As an avid golfer, Kay enjoyed playing at Connoquenessing Country Club and traveling to local clubs as a member of WGAWP. She was an active member of Northmont UP Church, and a 50-plus year member of the Ingomar Garden Club, where she shared her passion for cultivating her garden.
Visitation is at SIMONS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 7720 Perry Hwy., Pgh., PA 15237 on Tuesday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Wednesday viewing will be held 10-10:45 a.m., with the funeral service Wednesday, at 11 a.m.
