Age 73, of Oakmont, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully, Friday, May 8, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and quiet strength that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Laurie was a vibrant, kind, and gentle soul whose spirit shone brightly despite facing a multitude of health challenges throughout her adult life. She met every difficulty with a grace and resilience that inspired those around her, never letting illness dim the light she brought to her family and friends.

A devoted mother and grandmother, Laurie is survived by her children, Gary (Leigh) and Denise (Brian); and her beloved granddaughter, Samantha, who was such a bright and wonderful presence in her life and her best friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Matassa, whom she loved deeply, who passed away in 2025. Laurie had a gift for making people feel cherished. She poured that love into her cooking, filling her home with warmth and wonderful aromas that her family will carry with them always. She had a special joy for giving - delighting in surprises and gifts that let the people in her life know just how much they meant to her. In her quieter moments, she could be found with a magazine in hand or working through a crossword puzzle, finding peace and pleasure in the simple things.

She was, in every sense, the heart of her family - generous, gentle, and full of life. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no funeral service.

Laurie will be deeply missed and forever loved.
