LAWRENCE "LARRY" J.

On Friday, July 24, 2026, Lawrence (Larry) J. Karl, Sr. passed away at the age of 59 after a long battle with dementia. Larry was well known among his family and friends for his kind and loving nature, cherishing smile, and generous heart. He shared an abundance of love with everyone fortunate enough to know him, especially his family and close friends.

Larry was the beloved father of Katelyn Karl, Lawrence J. Karl, Jr., Joshua (Kathryn) Karl, and Justin (Gabby) Karl. He is also survived by his sister, Karen Dougan; his brother, Victor (Patty) Karl; and four cherished grandchildren. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, whom he has now joyfully reunited with in Heaven.

Larry was born and raised in West View, a community he proudly called home throughout his life. He graduated from North Hills High School and later earned his Associate's degree from the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics (PIA). After beginning his career as an aircraft mechanic, Larry went on to build a successful career in telecommunications.

Affectionately known as "Larry the Cable Guy" and the self-proclaimed "Stone Cold" Steve Austin lookalike, he brought humor and laughter wherever he went. Larry worked for Verizon for more than 15 years before retiring and was also a lifetime member of West View Volunteer Fire Company No. 1.

Throughout his life, Larry enjoyed many hobbies, including bowling, softball, and darts. More importantly, he was a devoted father who served as a mentor, coach, and constant source of encouragement to his children. He treasured the time spent teaching them baseball, softball, football, and wrestling, creating lasting memories both on and off the field.

Beyond sports, Larry worked tirelessly to instill in his children the values of trust, perseverance, resilience, and respect for others. His guidance, unwavering support, and unconditional love shaped the people they are today, and his influence will continue to be felt for generations to come.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, July 31, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at LAWRENCE T. MILLER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 460 Lincoln Avenue, Bellevue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Regina Coeli Parish, Church of the Assumption, 45 N. Sprague Ave., Bellevue.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Walk to End Alzheimer's-Pittsburgh in Larry's memory.
