LOIS MIRIAM (WILLIAMS) MELLOTT Obituary

Fox Chapel, PA - Age 99, of Fox Chapel, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, died peacefully, Thursday, April 16, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family. Her beloved husband of nearly 50 years, Cloyd R. "Mel" Mellott, predeceased her in 2001.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA, on December 28, 1926, Lois was the daughter of Ralph M. and Agatha (Deufel) Williams. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah L. Mellott of Madison, NJ; her son, Christopher R. Mellott (Jean) of Baltimore, MD; her two grandsons, Matthew R. Mellott (Cathy) of Brecksville, OH and Peter J. Mellott (Leia Jane) of Methuen, MA; and her great-grandson, Max R. Mellott of Brecksville, OH.

Lois grew up in Bellevue, PA, graduated from Bellevue High School in 1944, graduated from Carnegie Institute of Technology (Carnegie Mellon University) in 1948 with a B.A. in Fine Arts, specializing in Pictorial Design, and was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. She began a career working in the Graphic Arts Department of U.S. Steel in downtown Pittsburgh, which she left to become a devoted, full-time wife and mother. Lois was dedicated to many local causes and enjoyed giving her time to help the community. She was an active leader with the Girl Scouts and helped organize and administer local troops in the Pittsburgh area; was a long-time member of the Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church where she regularly volunteered by cooking for and organizing events; and had a tremendous passion for flowers and gardening and was a long-standing member of the Fox Chapel Garden Club. Lois would spend endless hours working in her beautiful gardens around her home where her iris and dahlias will continue to bloom and bring joy to others. For many years, she was also an active member of the Social Service Board of the Presbyterian Hospital in Oakland where she immensely enjoyed visiting with patients while delivering books and flowers. Lois also loved traveling, especially to the Canadian Rockies and the southwestern United States, but her second home was always St. Pete Beach and Pass-A-Grille, FL. She would spend summer vacations there with her family and enjoyed walking on the beach and collecting seashells. In later years, she would spend the winters there and delighted in her weekly luncheons with her friends at the club. In her spare time, Lois also enjoyed reading and knitting.

Friends will be received Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 2 to 6 p.m., at H.P. BRANDT FUNERAL HOME, 1032 Perry Highway, Perrysville.
