LORETTA ANN "LORI"
Loretta Ann "Lori" Burton, age 55, on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, of Bethel Park.
Lori came to her family as a late-in-life, welcome surprise. Close to two decades younger than her oldest siblings, she became the delightful means for all of them- Harry, Spencer, Diane, and parents Harold and Louise-to re-embrace youth. As such, although named for a beloved, maternal grandmother, she was affectionately dubbed "Lori the Kid," remaining so, well into her 40's. Sweet, loving and vibrant, she infused family vacations and outings with the renewed enthusiasm of childhood.
Lori pursued a degree in Hospitality, working for a time as the night receptionist at a hotel and later becoming the smiling face building sandwiches behind local deli counters. She also spent hours each week volunteering at her local food pantry. With an avid interest in sports, films and music, Lori attended games and concerts as often as she could and published an online zine discussing reviews of rock musicians and bands. An intrepid traveler, first with her sister Diane and then on her own, she spent vacations trekking through forest, mountain and seashore camp sites. Prior to each of their untimely deaths, Diane, Lori and their mother Louise enjoyed frequent visits to their river front cabin in Confluence, where they spent days fishing and hiking with the dogs.
Perhaps her greatest loves, however, were her animals. She began with Jezebel, a rehomed (and renamed to Jessabelle) cat; continued on to Jack, a perhaps not so imaginatively named but definitely boundlessly adored Jack Russell Terrier; and wound up with rescued dog Dexter and shy cat Kiki. All accompanied her on her travels.
Lori was predeceased, far too soon in each case, by her brother Harry, father Harold, mother Louise, and sister Diane. She is survived by her brother Spencer (Michelle), nephew Damon (Rachel), great-niece & nephew Calliope and Heath; niece Lianna (Hales), great-niece & nephew Xanthe and Ozias; her aunt Barbara and her wonderfully supportive family of Calabro cousins; and a slew of cousins from the extended Napieracz family.
Friends will be received at the JOHN F. SLATER FUNERAL HOME INC., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood, PA 15227, on Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 3-6 p.m., where a blessing service will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
It would be wonderful if those wishing to make donations in Lori's memory consider local animal shelters, rescues or animal support organizations such as the Humane Animal Rescue at https://humaneanimalrescue.org/ or ASPCA at https://www.aspca.org/. Please send condolences to:
