LORRAINE JUNE "BUNNY"

Lorraine June "Bunny" Zavidny passed away peacefully at her home, in Harmony, PA, on August 2, 2025, at age 94.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, John Zavidny; sister, Bernice LaPreta; brothers, Frederick and Joseph Pospychala; and son-in-law, Thomas Watkins.

She is survived by her son, Mark (Lisu) Zavidny; daughters, Robin (Tom) Watkins and Penny (Jim) Kane; granddaughters, Valerie (Ryan) Sarel, Ashley Watkins and Lily Zavidny; great-granddaughters, Scarlett and Audrey Sarel; sister-in-law, Beverly Pospychala; nieces, nephews and childhood friends of over 80 years.

Bunny was born on July 21, 1931, in the Preston area of Stowe Twp., PA, the second of four children to Stanley and Stella (Solesky) Pospychala. Bunny met her future husband, John "Jay" Zavidny, when they were young children. After getting married, John and Bunny moved to Wexford, which was a very rural area at the time. Bunny's true love, and her highest and best calling in life, was children. She soon had three of her own, and she proceeded to raise them with all the patience, discipline, encouragement, tears and love that are required of all good moms.

In 1965, Bunny started working in the Ingomar Middle School cafeteria, a job she kept for the next 17 years. Being bright and fast, she was soon running the place, working her way up to head cook.

When the kids grew up and moved away, John and Bunny traveled back-and-forth to a vacation home in Orlando, Florida. She continued to stay active in church pierogi and coffee socials, bowling, "Golden Age" club, Greek Catholic Union officer duties, hosting family get-togethers, and helping her family as needed, always providing motherly advice and guidance.

Bunny enjoyed crafting, crochet, watching the Steelers and going to the casino. Holidays were a time filled with traditions, from hand-dipped wax on Easter eggs, baking cookies in the weeks before Christmas, and Christmas Eve pierogi dinner with the family. Ahh pierogis - the best ever made.
