LUIGI COSACCO Obituary

Pittsburgh - Luigi Cosacco, age 84, passed away Monday, July 20, 2026. Born in Ausonia, Italy to Raffaele and Clorinda. Loving and devoted husband of 51 years to Janet (Beers); committed father to Louise and Martin; loving brother to Menetta, Aurelia (Patsy), Alfredo (Patty) and Maria (Patsy); loving cousin to Benedetto; lifelong friend to Giuseppe and Vincenzo. Lou's rich life journey from Italy to America is punctuated by his immigration to Pittsburgh and earning his U.S. citizenship in 1973. He worked his trade, mastered the language, built his family and created a new life for himself. He had a lifelong passion for learning, evident by his voracious reading appetite, especially about military aviation and history, and engineering. Lou worked with his hands his whole life as a master mechanic and fabricator who brought exacting talent and precision to his work. He was creative, intelligent and incredibly hardworking. He was an avid gardener, vintner, opera fan, teacher (Italian language classes and auto mechanics), history buff and Italian food aficionado. His favorite activity was porch-sitting and watching life happen. He helped decades of Italian language learners become fluent enough to take their first trips to Italy. Friends and family will be received on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 3-7 PM at ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 378 Maryland Ave., Oakmont, PA 15139. A Blessing Service will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 10 AM at the funeral home, followed by interment at Verona Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
