MAREN L. HICKTON

Maren passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at her home in Bethel Park, PA, at the age of 69. She was the only daughter of the late John "Jack" Hickton and Gloria Hickton. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Dennis C. Ball. She is also survived by her brothers, David (Dawne), Jake (Claudia), Loran, and Tony (Karen). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Maren was an entrepreneur at a very early age. She was selected out of 1,200 students at St. Ann's Grade School for a Fine Arts Scholarship at Carnegie Institute (1969-1971), which resulted into a career as a state-certified Art Therapist. She then was a self-employed owner of Creative Business Graphics, helping to assist other entrepreneurs open their own businesses. Maren eventually opened "Maren Incorporated," a business of "Full-Service Hospitality Consulting and Marketing," with an impressive list of local clients. After retirement, Maren used her gourmet cooking skills and provided meals to many clients in the South Hills. Family and friends welcome Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at FREYVOGEL-SLATER FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 412-835-1860, 112 Fort Couch Rd., Bethel Park, PA 15241. Funeral Mass on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine Laboure Parish, St. Joan of Arc Church. Burial private to the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice in Maren's name.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

Orders placed in:
January - May
Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
