MARGARET M. (BALZER)
Age 88, of Lawrenceville in Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 11, 2026.
Marge was a hardworking professional woman who did not retire until age 74. Her work life included working as a budget director at the Veterans Administration Hospitals and also as an usher and box office agent at the Civic Arena. She thoroughly enjoyed road trips, playing cards, and spending time with her family and friends.
Margaret fought her illness with strength and courage, maintaining a positive attitude and demonstrating resilience and grace throughout her journey. She lived a long and meaningful life, defined by her love for her family and the kindness she shared with others. She will be remembered for her outgoing personality, her warmth, her strength, and the lasting impact she made on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is lovingly remembered by her sons, Robert Gallis, Gary Gallis and his wife, Christine (Menzel) Gallis, and Michael Gallis; and by her cherished grandchildren, Drew, Evan, and Megan Gallis; along with many extended family members and friends whose lives she touched.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.
Family and friends are welcomed at the WALTER J. ZALEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 216 44th Street, Lawrenceville, on Monday, February 16, 2026, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish, St. Augustine Church on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
