MARIE E. (NÉE DAVIS)

Of Morningside, on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, age 97. Beloved wife of the late Wayne L. Cummings; mother of Cathy Morrison (the late Paul), John Cummings (Gillian Cannell) and Gary Cummings (Andrea); grandmother of Daniel Cummings, Matthew Cummings (Emma Chubb), Simon Cummings (Nicole Myers) and Thomas Czartorski (Anna); great-grandmother of Tesneem Saab Cummings, Numair Ghuloum-Cummings and Drew Czartorski; sister of Grace, Margaret, Josephine, John, Joseph, Juanita, Joel, Genevieve, Martha and Maude, all deceased; with special affection to nieces, Barbara Kletter, who lovingly helped care for Marie during the last years of her life, Patricia Richmond, Carol Kealey; and nephew, Tom Kealey; and to all her other Cummings and Davis relations.

Marie was the youngest of 11 brothers and sisters. She graduated from Homestead High School in 1946 and married Wayne Cummings (the first of four weddings between the Cummings boys and Davis girls!). She worked for several years at the Penn Shady Hotel in East Liberty as a waitress and bookkeeper. Later she took a job as a salesclerk at Sears in East Liberty and worked her way up to becoming a supervisor in the auditing department until she retired.

Marie had a great love of baking and family gatherings. She had a wonderful smile and made everyone feel welcome in her home. She loved her children and grandchildren, her nieces and nephews; and her dog Sparky, and was a great support to all.

Friends received at the WALTER J. ZALEWSKI FUNERAL HOME, 216 44th Street, Lawrenceville, on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 6-8 p.m., and Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 9-11 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Orphans of the Storm, 11878 PA-85, Kittaning, PA 16201.
