MARION L. (GAERTNER) BENNER

Marion L. (Gaertner) Benner Davis, lovingly known as "Nina" to her family, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the age of 98. A former resident of the North Side, North Hills, and Bellevue, Marion lived a remarkable life defined by resilience, independence, and an unwavering love for her family.

Marion was a woman of incredible strength. Fiercely independent, she continued living on her own until she was 96 years old, proving to everyone who knew her that determination and a positive spirit could carry you through life's challenges. Whether she was catching the bus to the casino with her friends or heading out for another adventure, she embraced each day with confidence and enthusiasm.

She found joy in life's simple pleasures and treasured the friendships she made along the way. Marion loved spending time at the casino, where she enjoyed trying her luck and sharing laughter with family and friends. She was also an avid card player, enjoyed countless games of bingo, and loved bowling. Her competitive spirit and warm personality made her a favorite companion wherever she went.

She is lovingly survived by her daughter, Victoria (John) Bittner; her grandchildren, Beth (Jason) Desiderio, Jill (John) Sobkiewicz, Heather (Regis) Martuseavich, and RaeAnn Mayhugh; her great-grandchildren, Rachael, Jace, and Jaxson; her stepchildren, Barbara Slade, William Davis, Jr., Teri Koms, and Stacy Dingel; and her brother, Louis Gaertner.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, William Davis and Thomas Benner; her cherished daughter, Esther Mayhugh; her stepdaughter, Kelly Hogenmiller; her brothers, Arthur, Edward, Ralph, and Ronald Gaertner; and her parents, Arthur and Grace Gaertner.

Marion's long life was a testament to perseverance, grace, and unconditional love. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, a loyal friend, and a truly remarkable woman whose strength, kindness, and independent spirit touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of courage, love, and resilience will live on in the hearts of her family forever.
