GANNON

MARTIN J.

Age 71, of Mt. Lebanon, died unexpectedly but peacefully, on February 12, 2026.

Born May 4, 1954, in the city of Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late J. Frank and Mary Helen Gannon.

Raised in Scott Township, Marty was a graduate of Our Lady of Grace School and South Hills Catholic High School Class of 1972.

He was recruited to Carnegie Mellon University, where he graduated in 1977 with a bachelor's degree in administration and management science and played for the school's football team.

Marty had a nearly 50-year career as a financial advisor in wealth management, most recently at Stifel Nicolaus.

In 1981, Marty married Jeanette Haberman Gannon, whom he met at Carnegie Mellon.

During the years they raised their son and daughter in Mt. Lebanon, Marty was a devoted coach, volunteer and booster for his children's activities and Mt. Lebanon Youth Sports.

He was active in fundraising and the alumni association of Seton LaSalle High School (formerly South Hills Catholic).

Marty was a lifelong athlete, who played baseball, basketball and football throughout his school years and a golf enthusiast, who participated in Carnegie Mellon Football's annual golf outings and was a member of Valley Brook Country Club.

After surviving sudden cardiac arrest while attending a high school basketball game in 2003, where a 16-year-old student athletic trainer used an AED to save his life, Marty became active in the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation and served on its advisory council.

Marty's true passion was maintaining close connections — through phone calls, emails and group texts — with his large family and the extensive network of friends he cultivated beginning in grade school.

In addition to his parents, Marty was predeceased by his dear brother, John F. Gannon Jr., in 2018.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Nathan (Brittany) Gannon; his daughter, Nora Gannon (Cristian Lemus); his beloved grandchildren, Miles and Maeve Gannon and Azul Lemus; three sisters, Joyce Gannon (Dennis Roddy), Nancy (the late Todd) Anderson and Cate Gannon; his brother-in-law, Arthur (Debbie) Haberman; nieces, nephews and his extensive network of cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, February 18, 2026, and 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE (412-563-2800), 1650 Greentree Rd., Pittsburgh, PA 15220.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, February 20, 2026, at St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Our Lady of Grace Church, 310 Kane Blvd., Pittsburgh, PA 15243.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation, 7500 Brooktree Rd., Wexford, PA 15090, https://www.sca-aware.org
