MARY EILEEN (McGUINNESS)

Age 90, of Glenshaw, on Sunday, February 23, 2025, returned to the Lord. Mary was born shortly before her twin sister on August 29, 1935, to parents John "Scotty" and Bridget "Delia" McGuinness. She once said how she "lucked out" when meeting Joseph Wagner on a blind date arranged by her friend in 1955 and subsequently married in April of 1957.

Mary was a devoted homemaker and mother who, despite her best efforts to scare off Bernie eventually called him her one and only favorite son-in-law. Later in her life, she especially enjoyed reading and watching the deer from her back porch. Mary also worked at H&R Block and served as an election poll worker for many years.

Along with her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, Sr. of 41 years in 1998; her son, Patrick, Sr.; brother, Jack; and sisters, Sally and Patricia. She is survived by her children, Mary Ann Shields (Bernard), Joseph, Jr. (Jennifer) and Brian (Lisa); grandchildren: Mara, Natalie and Bridget, Cally, Claire, Nikki and Brian, Melissa and Patrick, Jr., Ethan and Rhiannon; great-grandchildren: Maggie, Kate and Anna, Kal and Grayson, Lilly and Charlotte, Michael and Kenzie.

Celebrate Mary and her son, Patrick's lives with their family on Monday, March 3, from 9-10 A.M., at PERMAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 923 Saxonburg Blvd., at Rt. 8, Shaler Twp. A joint Mass will follow at 10:30 A.M., at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Glenshaw. The family suggests donations be made in Mary's honor to the UPMC Senior Communities Benevolent Care Fund.
