MARY JEANNE

Age 66, of Pittsburgh, passed away suddenly and peacefully, on Sunday, July 12, 2026. She was predeceased by her parents, Leor F. and Jeanne M. Lyons (nee Bagwell); her son, Ryan James Miller; sister, Judith A. Bordone (nee Lyons); (James T. also deceased); and nephew, Sean P. Lyons. She is survived by her grandchildren, Daryn and Kelvin Miller; and her siblings, Joseph P. Lyons (Lynn), Leor F. Lyons (Donna), Michael P. Lyons, Thomas R. Lyons (Jennifer), William G. Lyons (Jana); nephews, James C. Bordone, Justin (Denny) P. Bordone, Joseph L. Lyons (Carrie), Cullen Lyons and Rowan Lyons; great-nieces, Abbey Bordone (Sam Zdunski) and Greta Lyons; her de facto daughter-in-law, Chloe White (the late Ryan Miller); along with her wonderful Community Family in residence at The Little Sisters of the Poor in Pittsburgh.

"MJ" was the Lyons family Ambassador to the World! Widely known for her friendly smile, caring disposition, devotion to her family (especially Ryan and his family members, and to her Mom, Jeanne).

She was the unofficial Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud (first-place tie) champion. Also, Bingo player extraordinaire (in fact, up to her last earthly game, winning the cover-all!). Active participant in the many and varied almost-daily activities in her home facility.

An inveterate lover of the Pirates, Steelers and Penguins. She enjoyed popular music from the 70s and 80s, and in her early years was an avid and joyful dancer. She grew up in the Beechview area of the city, graduating from Brashear High School and completing studies at the Duff's Business School. She used those foundations to provide meaningful accomplishments at several community-based and service-oriented institutions.

In her last several years, she resided at The Little Sisters of the Poor in Pittsburgh. The Lyons Family wants to thank her many friends and family members, who have enjoyed their relationships with her over, at times, challenging life. (By the way she either did not recognize any challenges, or just chose to ignore them; we will never know. There was never a complaint about herself, but she assuredly wanted to know how "you" were doing. And, she meant it!).

Family and friends, while we are grateful for your loving embrace of "MJ." In lieu of sending thoughtful and generous floral arrangements, we, and she, would suggest that you instead consider making a remembrance donation to her home. Also, and very importantly, our family has great appreciation for the Volunteers, Nursing and related support staff at the Little Sisters of the Poor, along with her fellow residents and the devoted and loving Sisters themselves (if they didn't exhibit such humility we'd prefer to list them by name, but we unfortunately can't).

Last but not least, in her last earthly victory, she became a successful CORE (Centers for Organ Recovery and Education) donor, once ago showing her care for others.

Her final arrangements are being handled by O'BRIEN'S FUNERAL HOME. Visitation on Monday, July 20, at at Little Sisters of the Poor, 2-4 and 6-8. Funeral Mass on Tuesday, July 21, at 10:30 a.m., at Little Sisters of the Poor Chapel. Condolences can be shared at:
