PAUL ANTHONY
Age 90, of Butler, died peacefully at home, on January 3, 2026, after a lengthy illness due to Parkinson's Disease. He was born on August 11, 1935, to Kilian and Anna Staab, and was raised in Allison Park, PA with his older brother and sister. He graduated from North Catholic High School in Pittsburgh in 1953 and served in the U. S. Navy as an aviation electricians' mate.
On July 18, 1959, he married Elizabeth Dorothy Darney in Pittsburgh. Paul and Dorothy raised eight children, Dr. Jeffrey (Sara) of Rochester, MN, Elaine Szwed (Daniel) of Butler, David (Kathy) of State College, PA, Daniel (Amy) of Lucas, TX, Paula (Rick Dillingham) of Newberg, OR, Thomas (Jackie) of Carnegie, PA, Douglas (Deanna Perry) of Walla Walla, WA, and Brian (Savonn Wyland) of Portland, OR.
Paul spent his working life in the construction industry mostly as a commercial electrician and member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, where he also served as an instructor in the apprenticeship program. Paul's favorite hobby was collecting vintage automobiles from the 1930s to 1980s which he restored to roadworthiness in either modified or museum quality original condition. He was a long-time member of the Dodge Brothers Club and the Oldsmobile Club of America. He was also a model train enthusiast.
Paul is survived by his wife of 66 years, his children, eight grandchildren; Mark (Courtnay) Staab, Erin Staab, Jill Szwed, Kelly Szwed, April Staab, Anna Staab, Isaak Staab, Emma Staab, two great-grandchildren; Hayden Staab and Callan Staab, sisters-in-law; Eileen Staab, Carol Darney and Phyllis Darney; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Paul in death was his firstborn son, Mark, who died in early infancy; his parents; his brother, Robert; his sister, Roseanne Sirianni; his brothers-in-law, Michael Sirianni, William Darney Jr. and James Darney.
Friends and family will be received from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M., on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at the BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTER INC., 856 Evans City Rd., Renfrew, PA 16053.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 A.M., on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at All Saints Parish, St. Conrad's Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Butler, PA. Long time friend of the family, Fr. Scott Seethaler OFM Cap, officiating.
Interment will be private, at a later date, in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
