DONAHUE

PAULINE "PAULI" (CONTE) (ANGELL)

Age 91, of Penn Hills, passed away peacefully, Friday, March 13, 2026, surrounded by her children, Kym Angell (Penn Hills), her constant companion and selfless caregiver of nearly a decade; her son, Sean R. Angell of Huntersville, North Carolina; and Kathleen A. Gallagher of Wexford. Born April 8, 1934, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Conte; her mother, Virginia Morante Conte; and her brothers, Ralph D. Conte and Alfred "Bim" Conte; as well as her late husbands, Robert Angell and David Donahue.

In addition to her children, Pauli is survived by her sisters, Jeanne Caliguiri and Emma Janicki, each of whom were precious to her. Together they made an incredible trio and exemplified the true meaning of family.

Pauli is also survived by her beloved grandsons, Zachary Gallagher (Fremalyn) of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Connor Gallagher (Tina) of Sewickley, Seth Angell, Wilmington, NC, Noah, Joshua and Jacob Angell of Huntersville, NC and Colin Gallagher (Kathleen) of Seattle, Washington. Known as "Gigi" to her great-grandchildren, Dillan and Jordan Gallagher of Sewickley, Pauli's last wish was to see the birth of Zach and Frem's son. While the Lord had other plans for Pauli, her family is confident that their souls will meet and her heavenly prayers will guide the safe arrival of our newest addition. She is also survived by a dozen nieces and nephews, each of whom she loved dearly and many of whom traveled across the country for her 90th birthday party. The devotion and love of her trio of Godsons, Rich Conte, Bim Conte and Greg Caliguiri, brought her comfort and joy.

Pauli had many "loves" in her life, most of all her family, friends, her Italian heritage, European travel, Tony Bennett, John Grisham novels, the YMCA of Pittsburgh, the Pittsburgh Steelers, wrist watches, Belleek China, and chocolate. A working mom, before working moms were a given, Pauli dedicated 45 years to the YMCA of Pittsburgh, holding it and the many friendships she made there close to her heart.

An avid card player, teaching her grandsons, each in his own time, to play "rummy" was a family tradition and being old enough to play rummy with grandma and "the boys" was a familial rite of passage.

Pauli's family will always be grateful to her earthly guardian angel nurses, Kathleen, Ester, Jenna, Lavender, and Lola along with Good Samaritan Hospice who provided loving care to Pauli over the course of the last year.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the YMCA of Pittsburgh, 651 Holiday Drive, Suite 520, Foster Plaza 5, Pittsburgh, PA 15220.

Friends and family received at WILLIAM F. GROSS FUNERAL HOME LTD., 11735 Frankstown Rd. (at Rodi Rd.), Penn Hills, on Monday, March 16, 2026, from 2-8 p.m. Funeral prayers will be held at the funeral home, on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Christ the Divine Shepherd Parish St. Susanna Church, 200 Stotler Rd., Penn Hills, PA 15235, at 10 a.m.
