It is with extremely heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Peter C. Gorman, after a courageous two-year battle with metastatic melanoma.

Pete, of South Fayette Twp., passed on Wednesday, October 12th, at the age of 74. He amazed us all as he fought his cancer with dignity and grace. Never a complaint, nor a question of, "Why me?"

Pete was born in Erie, PA on July 31, 1948, to father, Paul V. Gorman Jr., and Eileen Gorman-Backus.

Pete was raised in Ingram, PA and was a 1966 graduate of Montour High School. A proud Marine, Pete served in the Vietnam War where he suffered a serious injury for which he was awarded the Purple Heart. Post-Vietnam, Pete had a long and distinguished career in the beverage industry where he spent time in Texas, Florida, and Louisiana before returning home to Pittsburgh.

More than anything, Pete had an unrivaled love for his family. Married to Carol (Gazda) for 44 years, Pete cherished nothing more than the time they spent together, as well as with family and friends. Pete loved watching his Steelers while entertaining the family with his famous brisket and plenty of beverages! He also loved family vacations to Hilton Head Island where relaxing by the pool, listening to music and charter fishing was all he really needed. He would entertain all with his stories of growing up in Ingram with four brothers and a sister, while also making everyone laugh with his uncanny ability to tell jokes.

Above all else, Pete adored his grandchildren. Pap and Nunny made every event they possibly could, and he marveled at everything his grandchildren accomplished. He was not just a Pap; he was the best of Paps. They will miss him dearly but will have an infinite amount of memories to talk about for the rest of their lives.

Pete is survived by his loving wife, Carol; son, Peter Gorman (Suzanne); daughter, Tammy Chesky (Danny); son, Tom McGuire (Niki); daughter, Tracy Creely (John); and grandchildren, Brenna, Johnny, Jace, Kristina, Ryan, Hannah, Reece, and Katie. He is also survived by siblings, Paul (Deborah), Mark (Deborah), Ray, and Pam, as well as in-laws, Margie and Michael Klauer; and many nieces nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Steve.

Family and friends received Monday, 3-6 p.m., at which time a Celebration of Pete's Life Service will be held at 6 p.m., at the WARCHOL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333). A committal service and full military honors will take place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp., on Tuesday, October 18, at 2:30 p.m.
