PHYLLIS JEAN ALSPACH
Phyllis Jean Alspach Cowie passed away peacefully, on August 1, 2026, at the age of 96.
Phyllis was raised in Swissvale. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1951 with a degree in chemistry. There she met her future husband, Norman John Cowie, now deceased, and lived for over 60 years in Forest Hills, before moving to Beatty Pointe Village in Monroeville.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, James and Elizabeth Cowie, Janice (Cowie) Anderson, all of Pittsburgh and Jonathan Cowie and Jeffery Howard of San Jose, CA; five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, as well as legions of Pittsburgh Steeler fans and contract bridge enthusiasts.
She will be interred at William Penn Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children Foundation in her memory.
