RALPH F.
Age 96, of Glenshaw, PA, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. He was the loving husband of the late Barbara A. (Kump) Gasperich for 69 years. He was born and raised in Calumet, Michigan, son of the late Peter and Christine Gasperich and brother of the late Ernest J. Gasperich. He is survived by his eight beloved children, Mary Anne (Rob) Worsena, Barbara (Scott) Abel, Diane (Ron) Giel, Edward (Anne) Gasperich, David (Cristi) Gasperich, Gary Gasperich, Greg Gasperich and Karen (Rob) Skertich. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Ralph greatly enjoyed music and fondly remembered playing the saxophone and clarinet in his high school and college years. He was a member of a 13-piece Swing Band in the late 40s and 50s that performed for various social events. He also played in local concerts and marching bands in the area. He was a graduate of Michigan Technological University in 1952 with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and became a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania. He was Principal Engineer, Bridges and Buildings for design and/or construction engineering while employed by American Bridge Division of the U.S. Steel Corporation for 35 years. Some of his notable projects include: The Walt Disney World Contemporary Hotel in Orlando, Florida; the 1.5 mile long I-84 bridge across the Hudson River between Newburgh and Beacon, New York; the New River Gorge Bridge in West Virginia; the Sewickley Pennsylvania Bridge over the Ohio River; U.S. Steel's first Basic Oxygen Plant (BOP) facilities in Duquesne Works and a BOP facility in Lorain, Ohio and also BOP and continuous caster facilities for CSN near Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Ralph was a founding member of St. Bonaventure Parish in Glenshaw. He enjoyed gardening and playing golf. He made lasting memories with his family with trips back to Michigan and vacations at Stone Harbor, NJ. He was particularly proud and overjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Friends will be received on Friday, August 22, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m., at the BOCK FUNERAL HOME LTD., 1500 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, August 23, at 12:00 p.m., at St. Matthews Parish, St. Bonaventure Church, Glenshaw.
