A longtime resident of Monroeville, age 87, died peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2026, while a resident of the V.A. Medical Center, H. J. Heinz Campus, in Aspinwall.



Regis was the beloved husband of the late Jacqueline (Golofski) Dugan for 51 years.



He was the loving father of Regis J. Dugan of Monroeville, James (Tina) Dugan of Hempfield, Ann (William) Bornhorst of GA, and Mary Frances (David) Cook of Ligonier.



Rege was the treasured grandfather of Regis J. (Melissa) Dugan and Basia Dugan; Ryan Dugan, Matthew Dugan; Helen (Jonathan) Waring, Marian (Nicholas) Leach and Margaret Bornhorst.



He was the proud great-grandfather of Micah and Ariana Waring, Keekan and Brooks Leach.



He was the brother of Tom (Rachel) Dugan of Monroeville.



Rege was preceded in death by his siblings, James (surviving spouse, Joanne) Dugan, John "Jack" (late Barbara) Dugan, Cathy (surviving spouse, Richard) Bremer, Mary Margaret (late Robert) Ference, Kevin Dugan, Theresa Dugan, Elizabeth "Beth" (late Russell) Yothers, and Michael (surviving spouse, Rita) Dugan.



Rege was a 1956 graduate of Turtle Creek High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1961 and became stationed at The Presidio in San Francisco, where he was taught French for U.S. intelligence purposes. He was discharged in 1965, and soon became employed with Bettis Atomic Power Lab in West Mifflin. While at Bettis, Rege earned his Bachelor's in mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh by attending evening classes. He later landed employment with Westinghouse in Plum, where he served as a nuclear simulator engineer before retiring.



Rege was deeply devoted to his Catholic faith. As a member of the former North American Martyrs Church in Monroeville, he volunteered as a Eucharistic minister and sang with the parish funeral choir. Rege also was an active member of the parish's St. Vincent DePaul Society and the Holy Name Society.



For relaxation, Rege enjoyed fishing the lakes of Western Pennsylvania.



All are welcome on Tuesday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., at PATRICK T. LANIGAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC., TURTLE CREEK / MONROEVILLE CHAPEL, 1111 Monroeville Ave., Turtle Creek, 412-823-9350.



Mass of Christian Burial will be in St. Bernadette Church (Christ the Divine Shepherd Parish) in Monroeville on Wednesday, at 10:30 a.m.



Rege will be laid to rest with military honors at Good Shepherd Cemetery.



Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society, c/o Christ the Divine Shepherd Parish, 245 Azalea Dr., Monroeville, PA 15146.
