RICHARD D. "RICH"

Age 74, of Oakmont PA, died on Sunday, November 24, 2024. Rich was born in Pittsburgh on September 16, 1950, son of James J. Marx and Grace E. (Beckfeld). He is survived by his wife Barbara (Schaefer) Marx of Shaler, and celebrated 35 years of marriage on September 15. Rich is also survived by two sons, Brian Marx (Becca) and Richard W (Bill) Marx (Tanya) and a proud grandfather two grandsons and two granddaughters. Brian and Becca have three children, Quin, Declan and Addy Grace. Bill and Tanya have a daughter, Jessica.

Rich is survived by James J. Marx Jr. (Mary Alice Kettrick) of Wisconsin, Dianne Lersch (Gene-decd.) of Ingomar and Joanne Steigerwald (Tom) of McCandless. Preceded in death by Mary Lynne Clifford (David) of Cleveland, Patricia Marx-Garlitz (Barry) of New Mexico. Rich is an uncle to ten nephews and four nieces as well as a great-uncle to 39 great-nieces and great-nephews.

Rich grew up in Wexford (McCandless), attended St. Alphonsus School, North Catholic High School and West Virginia University. He served as altar boy at St. Alphonsus Church. He worked for Sargent Electric / TEGG for over 40 years and retired as the CFO of TEGG ten years ago.

He was a gentleman through and through who loved his family and friends. He was great with numbers and absolutely loved playing golf and cards with his close friends. Every year he participated in a week-long golf outing in Myrtle Beach with friends. Rich was also quite a Pittsburgh football, baseball and hockey fan.

Rich attended St. Alphonsus School. He was Baptized, Confirmed and served as an altar boy at St. Alphonsus Church. He will be laid to rest at the mausoleum at St. Alphonsus Cemetery. May he rest in peace. He will be missed by many.

There will be visitation hours at DEVLIN FUNERAL HOME at 2678 Rochester Road in Cranberry Township from 2 PM until 4 PM and from 6 PM until 8 PM on November 29, 2024. On November 30, 2024, at 10 AM, there will be a Mass celebrated at St. Aiden Parish, St. Alphonsus Church.
