CECOTTI
RICHARD "DICK" C.
On Sunday, May 31, 2026, Richard "Dick" C. Cecotti, age 84, of West Mifflin, passed away with family by his side. Beloved husband of almost 60 years to the late Carolyn J. (Esten) Cecotti; loving father of Michelle Travers, Joanne (Keith) Lewis, Jeanne (Jim) Roman, and the late Pamela Jean (survived by Robert) Lorshbaugh; grandfather of Heather (Tyler) Alley, Amber, Bailey, Flynn, Corrine (Brian) Eckels, Breean (Aleasha) Lewis, Keith, Kayla (Michael) Roberts, and Konner; great-grandfather of Peyton, Alannah, Briar and Knox; brother of Chester Cecotti (the late Phyllis); also survived by niece, Debbie (Randy) Carver; and nephew, Michael Cecotti; and great-nephews, Samuel and Jacob Carver.
Rich was a graduate of St. Basil High School in Carrick, where he was a pitcher on the varsity baseball team. He remained close with his teammates over the years, including regularly attending monthly lunches with his "Basil Buddies." He later graduated from Wheeling Jesuit University, where he met his future wife, Carolyn. He worked in industrial equipment sales for many years, and upon retirement, picked up a job as a crossing guard in West Mifflin, where he got to watch the students grow up from kindergarten onwards. He was involved with the West Mifflin #3 VFD, where he was president for a time, and often used his connections to recruit firetrucks and emergency vehicles to attend community parties and events for the children in the community. He was well-known and well-loved in his neighborhood. He was a big cigar aficionado and could often be found spending time on his porch talking with passersby while enjoying a stogie. In his free time he enjoyed spending time with his beloved dog Shadow, being involved with the South Park Historical Society, fishing (particularly in Lake Erie), and hunting, and he was especially proud of a black bear that he bagged in Quebec.
Friends received Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 4-8 p.m., at the GRIFFITH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 5636 Brownsville Road (at 6th St.), South Park Twp. 412-655-4600, where a Blessing Service will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 11 a.m. Condolences may be offered for the family at:
