MALACKANY
ROBERT G. "BO"
Of Rankin, recently a resident of Seneca Place in Penn Hills, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.
Born in his family home in Rankin on April 16, 1933, he was the beloved son of the late Michael and late Anna (Lesko) Malackany, and was also preceded in death by his siblings, Anna Hochhauser, Helen, John, Michael, Elsie, Mary and Nick Malackany and Irene Antol.
Bo is survived by his loving nieces and nephews: Mark Hochhauser, Michele Rudolph, Steven Malackany, Paula Gilmer, and the late Karen and Jeffrey Malackany. He is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
He is survived by his especially devoted niece, Beverly Hruska, who lovingly cared for him for the past five years. Beverly's unwavering dedication, compassion, and tireless support ensured that Bo was always cared for with dignity and love during the final chapter of his life, and her care was a true gift to him.
Bo was a 1951 graduate of Rankin High School and was a standout basketball player for the Jackrabbits. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, stationed at Fort Bragg. Bo retired from Union Switch & Signal after many years of dedicated work and was a longtime member of St. Michael Orthodox Church in Rankin.
Affectionately known as "Dancing Bob" in his younger days, Bo loved music, dancing, and spending time at the Holiday House Disco and Saturday nights at Chauncy's. He also had a lifelong love of cars - especially those painted "Toronado red" - and he took over 20 trips to Hawaii.
A private Funeral Service will be held for family and close friends.
Bo will be laid to rest in Monongahela Cemetery.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Seneca Place in Penn Hills and Anova Hospice for their kindness, compassion, and loving care shown to Uncle Bob and his family during this time.
