OBER

ROBERT JOESPH

Of Etna, formerly of Brighton Heights, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 7, 2026. Beloved husband of Mary Ann (Helfrich) Ober of nearly 57 years. Son of the late Charles and Caroline (Seybold) Ober; loving father of Eric (Michelle) Ober of Ellicott City, MD, and Jennifer (Daniel) Harger of Shaler Twp.; proud grandfather of Colin and Kiera Harger and Jared and Olivia Ober; also brother of the late Charles (Suzanne) Ober of Shaler Twp. and the late Rosemary (James) Rinehart of Henderson, NV; and brother-in-law of the late William (Jean) Helfrich of Shaler Twp.

Bob served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman from 1964 to 1966. Later on, he pursued a career as a police officer and served in the Borough of Etna, working from 1971 to 1998 as a patrolman and from 1998 to 2006 as the chief of police, 35 years in all.

More than anything else, Bob enjoyed raising his children and being involved with his grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM and 5:00 to 8:00 PM, at the BOCK FUNERAL HOME, LTD., 1500 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM, in Elfinwild Church, Glenshaw.
