ROBERT P. BASL, II Obituary

BASL, II

ROBERT P.

Age 79, of Sewickley, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, June 5, 2025, after a valiant battle with brain cancer.

Son of the late Robert and Dorothy George Basl of Dubois, PA. He was many things - loving husband, devoted father, supportive brother and uncle, entrepreneur, active in the community and in his faith. Bob was a proud Eagle Scout and worked tirelessly as the owner of The Photo Depot for 35 years. He found his true passion as a faithful and active member of St. James Church, where he was a eucharistic minister, lector, IT consultant and volunteer and where he taught RCIA for 27 years.

An avid golfer, Bob spent many hours on the course with friends and family regardless of his handicap. His favorite thing, above all, was spending valuable time with his family and grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years Kathleen Rothhaar Basl; children, Robert (Angela) Basl, Bonnie (Austin) Cline, Timothy (Elena Perea) Basl and Jennifer Basl (Adam Friedman); grandchildren, Mackenzie Basl, Jack Basl and Teddy Basl; sister, Judith Basl; and brother, John (Pamela) Basl. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, David Basl (surviving, Lois).

Family will welcome friends on Friday, June 13, from 2-8 p.m., at SCHELLHAAS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1600 Stone Mansion Dr., Franklin Park, PA 15143. Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Saturday, June 14, at 10:30 a.m., at Divine Redeemer Parish, St. James Church, 200 Walnut St., Sewickley, PA 15143.
