Ronald Lee Nickholds passed away peacefully, at home, with his loving wife, Judy, by his side on April 29, 2026.

Life, Service, and Passions

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Alfred and Virginia Nickholds, Ron enlisted in the U.S. Army after high school. He served in England during the Vietnam War as a disciplined soldier and earned a "Sharpshooter" qualification badge. While stationed abroad, he met his first wife, Jean Ann Underwood. They had two children, Amanda and Jayson, before relocating to Bellingham, Washington.

In Bellingham, Ron studied art at Western Washington University, beginning a lifelong dedication to surrealist oil painting. Years later, in 1983, Ron met Judy McIntyre. They found the love of their lives in one another and shared the next 43 years together.

Ron worked for many years as a screen printer and a small general contractor. He loved working on his home and garden, and watching football, fiercely supporting the Steelers. Ron enjoyed making people laugh with his quick wit. He was a kind, gentle soul who loved animals, especially his dogs, Hannibal and Zak.

His devoted wife, Judith "Judy"; his brother, Bill; his daughter, Amanda; his son, Jayson; stepsons, Corey McIntyre and Jerry McIntyre; along with extended family and dear friends.
