RUTH E. SHELLEBY

Born July 18, 1954, in Pittsburgh, PA, to Angela and Sam Shelleby. An Overbrook resident, she graduated from Carrick High School. She subsequently moved to Phoenix, AZ, for a few years working before returning to Pittsburgh, where she started her main career with Westinghouse. She then spent over 25 years with PNC Bank. She earned her B.S. degree from the University of Pittsburgh. and then obtained a Masters in Public Management at Carnegie Mellon University. Both of these degrees were completed in the evenings while she worked full time in downtown Pittsburgh.

Married 40 years to her loving husband, David, she was an avid traveler with her husband usually at her side. She managed to visit all 50 U.S., states as well as 22 foreign countries and loved the dining, interesting aspects and of course the shopping at every location.

Sister of Marian Walker (Charles), Joan Gilardi (late John Gilardi), and Edward Shelleby (Diane); sister-in-law of Paul Franz and the late Elaine Lawrik; also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She loved her nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews, and treated them very well over the years with designer clothes, fashion gifts, treats, tea parties, cuddles and laughs. Especially when they were babies.

She loved babies.

She was the grand hostess for family Thanksgiving dinners at her homes in Pittsburgh for over 20 years, and no one left disappointed and always came back the next year for all the special appetizers and efforts put into our favorite holiday.

And Ruth had a special gift that she shared with her family and friends over the years. The gift was that people wanted to get her to laugh all the time so they could hear that special infectious Ruth laugh that was impossible not to like and always made you feel better. This Ruthie giggle reduced grown adults to children, so they could hear that very unique and wonderful laughter of hers.

Ruth was sweet, cute, smart and will be sorely missed by her husband, family, and friends.

She was a current resident of Lutheran Senior Care in Zelienople, PA, and member of St. Aidan Parish in Wexford.

Family will welcome friends on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 10-12 a.m., at SCHELLHAAS & SONS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 1600 Stone Mansion Drive, Sewickley, PA 15143 (Franklin Park/Wexford). Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Alphonsus Church of St. Aidan Parish on Saturday, at 12:30 p.m. Inurnment to be scheduled at a later date.
