SADIE MAE (WHITTLE) WHITE Obituary

Sadie Mae Whittle White, age 94, went to her final rest on March 5, 2023. She was born on February 4, 1929, in Wetumpka, Alabama, to the late Addison Sims Whittle and the late Lillie Bernice Grayson Whittle. After moving North, the family settled in Bridgeville, Penna. There Sadie finished high school in Chartiers Valley's memorable 1948 graduating class. She was the devoted wife of the late Chester White for 63 years and loving mother to the late Sharon Ann White Butler (the late Walter), the late Lydia Jean White Richardson (Lloyd), and Doris White-Hudson; grandmother to seven grandchildren; grandmother to eight great-grandchildren; aunt to countless nieces, and nephews; and treasured cousin to many. Additionally, Sadie and her husband were surrogate parents to eight Lost Boys of Sudan, who relocated to Pittsburgh. She was a volunteer at Scott Township's Kane Hospital for a remarkable 29 years. Former youth members of the First Baptist Church of Bridgeville still cherish her impact as a Sunday School teacher.

Sadie particularly enjoyed inspirational music and daily scripture readings. In their later years, she and Chester united with Good Shepherd Church in Upper Saint Clair, Penna, where she cherished more of the same. An accomplished seamstress, gardener, and avid tomato grower, Sadie poured her faith into her family. She loved being a grandmother and treasured family values. It's no surprise that she readily stepped in as a caregiver for her late daughters, husband, and parents in their waning days. Family and friends celebrated Sadie's life on the morning of Tuesday, March 7th at the WARCHOL FUNERAL HOME, 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville, Penna. The family offers that memorial contributions can be forwarded to Operation Smile.
