SHIRLEY ANN (LIGHTNER)

Passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, at the age of 90. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, during the Great Depression, she was the youngest of three children born to Anne McGrail Lightner and Earl James Lightner.

Shirley grew up in Pittsburgh's Oakland neighborhood, where she attended St. Agnes Catholic School and Sacred Heart High School. She later married her neighborhood sweetheart, Edward "Eddie" Streno, in 1955, beginning a loving partnership that lasted 37 years until his passing. Together they built a devoted family after Eddie returned home from military service during the Korean War.

Shirley worked as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone and later for Robbins Answering Service, where she remained until her retirement in 1999. She was known for her kindness, gentle spirit, and soft, comforting voice that so many people fondly remember.

An avid reader, Shirley especially enjoyed love stories, mysteries, and suspense novels. She also had a well-known sweet tooth, especially for donuts, candy, and just about anything sweet. More than anything, though, her world revolved around her family. She dedicated herself to raising her children and later found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Shirley also shared a special bond with her niece, Ann Horgan, who remained closely connected to her through the years and visited often. Ann was truly a ray of light in Shirley's life and brought her great comfort and happiness.

Shirley was a loving and devoted mother to her surviving children, Dennis (Linda) Streno, Scott (Elizabeth) Streno, Rex (Diane) Streno, Glenn (Elaine) Streno, and Sherri (Bill) Laughner. and adoring grandma to Melissa (Porfirio) Lievanos, Dennis (Laura) Streno, Jr., Julia (Jason) Keener, Ryan (Kristy) Streno, Jamie Streno, Caitlin Streno, Collette (Bronson) Sedore, Kellen Streno, Spencer (Jordan) Streno, Sydney (fiancé Cody Bracken) Laughner, Sabrina Laughner, and Peyton Laughner. She was also blessed with many great-grandchildren, and generations of family who will continue to cherish her love, strength, kindness, and guidance.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Edward Streno; her daughter, Sharon Ann Streno; and her sister, Dolores Grail Rodgers.
